Ulsan International Environmental Photo Festival
Ulsan, South Korea
One step forward with the theme of "Human and Environment"
"As a native of Ulsan, | feel like a blocked artery has been opened with the reopening of the Ulsan International Environmental Photo Festival, which has been suspended since 2014. | prepared this exhibition with the thought that it could play a role as a solvent that can melt the hardness of Ulsan." When it comes to environmental photography, it's easy to think of high-profile pictures of fish with bent backs, ducks dying in oil, and so on. But on the other side of that, there are people who want to live in the environment we really want to live in.
The Ulsan International Environmental Photography Festival aims at that concept, mainly selecting artists who put the future in the bowl of the past and present, and mainly exhibits photos containing thoughts that help establish an attitude for a positive future. Although the light emitted by the stars we see was created hundreds to thousands of light years ago, it is said that it can serve as an important source for predicting and preparing for the future of the earth. The NASA exhibition was designed to reflect that possibility.
In addition, the stories of young and emerging artists about the environment and human beings are also displayed, and several special exhibitions are held. In addition to the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center exhibition hall, Ulsan National Garden, various galleries located in the old town culture street, and exhibition halls such as Buk-gu Culture and Arts Center and Ulju Culture and Arts Center, related photo exhibitions were held at the same time to enhance the atmosphere of the photo festival. Until the Ulsan International Environmental Photo Exhibition is reopened, we would like to thank Lee Yeon-hee, CEO of Ulsan Maeil Newspaper, and Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan Metropolitan City, and other sponsors.
| applaud the hard work of the staff, including general curator Ann Namyong, who led the exhibition to the highest level.
