HELSINKI FESTIVAL 2025

Musiikkitalo, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra

The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and Jukka-Pekka Saraste opened the classical music program of the Helsinki Festival on the Night of the Arts. The concert began with the "Chorus of the Winds" from Sibelius's "The Tempest", followed by the world premiere of Sauli Zinovieff's new work with lyrics by Mirkka Rekola. The culmination of the evening was Olivier Messiaen's "Turangalila" symphony, the title of which means "Song of Love" in Sanskrit. The extensive piano parts of the symphony were performed by the renowned Japanese pianist Momo Kodama.

The concert was enriched with photographs by Helsinki-based artist Dasha Pears. Pears, an award-winning fine art photographer, creates surreal images in which small, unexpected details transform reality.
